What makes an online degree different from a brick and mortart college degree so different?

I have taken so many courses from online. Actually completed my associates degree completely online. I have been researching and reading upon so many bad reviews on universities that offer degrees online and just don't understand what makes it so different to learing online than in a traditional school room?

I think online courses are more challenging. And I speak from experience. They make you learn the same subject, just a bit different. The assignments online are just sent through email attachments, sometimes done as groups and have to be posted in the school's Message area where they can be reviewed and criticized by professors and students.

The student group conversations for topics assigned are done at your time within a time limit and that's the only difference, which I think it's very convenient for working adults to accomplish the dream they left pending for specific reasons.

I hope someday online degrees will get the same respect.

What makes an online degree different from a brick and mortart college degree so different?
It has little to do with the fact the degree is online. Several brick and mortar colleges offer online classes too. It is the scam 'colleges' like UoP or Devry that give online classes a bad reputation. These places do not offer real classes. You cannot squeeze the time requirements as much as these places do and you cannot scam people out of money as much as these people do. Their 'degrees' are not worth the paper they are printed on.
