Online???????

I plan on getting a laptop soon and I want to have internet on it. but I want to have internet wherever I go. Last time I asked this question people told me to get wi fi but you have to pay for that when you go certain places. Does anyone have any idea of what I should get? I dont mind paying a bill every month.

Sprint Mobile Broadband or Cingular's Edge. In a year there will be another alternative: WiMax, but it will roll out slowly and only be available in certain areas at first. Test markets are Chicago and Washington D.C. Lord knows why they picked those two crappy cities.
Reply:If you want to have it guaranteed available, then you need to subscribe to a service like Sprint. There you will pay a monthly charge plus a charge based on the number of bytes uploaded or downloaded. Call them to find out the costs.





BUT... there is almost always a WiFi node available somewhere. After you get your laptop.. turn it on and see what is around. Look for an unsecured location and simply log in. Lots of coffee shops and public areas that now provide free wi fi.





I would try that out before you sign up for a service. You may find what you want there and if not, THEN you can sign up.

Reply:I can't tell you what to get, but most of the cel phone companies have subscription services. That's about the only way you can have a full-time connection. They will give you the card to get you to buy their monthly service.
Reply:you can subscribe to a service such as the cloud which means when your pc roams into their geographic network you will have free internet (if your subscribed to a network that they own) most metro's have free wifi. If you dont like pay per use or subscribed wi-fi I suggest using the sometimes slower mobile tower networks that sprint/nextel, at%26amp;t/cingular, and others offer.
Reply:get a laptop which has wireless capability. Your telecom provider or ur ISP should be able to hook you up with a 3Com wireless internet card. With this you can go online anytime anywhere.
