Online vs. Traditional classes - which is more efficient?

Have you taken both online classes and traditional classes in your major at college? What were your total time commitments per week for a typical 3-credit course? What was the length of the course in weeks? Do you feel that online learning, overall, provides as much educational value as traditional ("onground") learning?





The purpose of the question: I would like to know if students feel they spend less time in online classes than in traditional classes. If the overall educational value was also thought to be about the same, this might imply students would rather learn online.





Example: 3-credit online Business Ethics class takes 6 hours per week for 8 weeks. Onground course in Management requires 3 hours in class, plus 4 hours outside class for 16 weeks. Overall educational value: about the same.

I think that I get more out of traditional learning because I can ask questions and really see what is going on. I dont think that online learning provides as much needed feedback and allows you any interaction. I only do online courses for subjects that I already excel in.





But I do think with online courses more time needs to be out into them if its a harder subject. And the reaon why is because you dont get the feedback that you would get froma traditional class and you dont have the interaction. If you dont understand something then you spend more time on the subject.





It also depends entirely on the person and how they learn. Some people do fine with online classes whuile others do not.





Now of you are considering an online school I would stay away. There's a reason why you pay triple for a degree and thats because its a SCAM. Also, the education is mediocre at best. Why pay all that money to just get a mediocre education? I hope you are asking because your university in your area is offering an online class for the semester.
