Embarrassing online dating?

I'm a shy guy and I've thought about trying online dating but never done it because people seem to think its for desperate losers or nerds. What do you think? What would you think of a couple if they told you they met online? Is that weird? How do you feel about online dating?

Are people on online dating sites normal? Or do they all suffer from some common neurosis?

Embarrassing online dating?
I don't date on line because I believe in destiny I have to meet my lover in person and by my self.
Reply:No... i dont think so.. its normal now a days dont worry=)

also if u online date instead the person will give you a chance for your personality and not just your looks.
Reply:they're pretty normal but probably trying online dating for the same reason you are. but be careful because you also have a bigger chance of finding a crazy in the batch.
Reply:if you ask me i have never done online dating but i feel people who date online are not serious in their relationships...... their might be very rare cases when people really fall in love online

as it is they dont know each other very well and when they meet in reality things might not be the same

choice is yours
Reply:Just tell people you were introduced by a mutual friend.

To be honest -- most people lie on the sites, but not all. And most of the women want the same kind of guy they just divorced -- tall, dark, and handsome (and rich) -- even though they just got rid of one just like that, and all of the women want the same guy.

There are many normal people out there, but the sites control the email, and can cut off contact if they see it is serious. they don't want people to hook up. They lose business if you stop paying. Swap real email addresses early!
Reply:My cousin met his wife online, she's pretty hot.
Reply:It's ok, dude..... really.

It's YOUR decision. The fact remains that the internet is becoming as much of a reality as phones were WAAAAY back in the day.

You really should ask yourself, "Is using another tool at my disposal enough to say that it is weird or desparate?"

I've met ALL my girlfriends online. There's absolutely NOTHING wrong with it unless you are afraid of what others will say about you. You just have to be cautious and use common sense.

Hope that helps!!!!
Reply:Thats not rue at all ok! Its not weird if you online date......if they told me that i would be happy for them and i wouldnt think that they are weird
Reply:Well people that join the online dating site are normal in most cases!! I have read of people meeting online and then getting married. So based on that i think you should go ahead and try it.
Reply:As with the general population, people on line cover the whole spectrum of people. There are many normal people on line just like you, just looking for love. I met my fiance on a on line dating service. It takes work and some sorting out of the people who show interest in you but it is worth the time.
Reply:Online dating is becoming quite common. I see nothing wrong with it.
Reply:Online dating is not for losers and weirdos. It's for people who have not been successful meeting other singles in the traditional manner. I know a number of perfectly normal, well adjusted couples who met via internet personals (including myself). All of us are over 30 (so we're not interested in the bar scene), professionally employed (so we work some long hours) and are separated and/or divorced (so we know better what qualities were are looking for, and what to avoid). As well, for someone like me, who is also a single parent, internet dating was the most viable way to meet mature professional men with a family instinct. It's not like a single mother gets out of the house lots...

I don't think the online world has any more or less freaks running around than the real world. And with online dating, you can weed out a lot of characteristics that turn you off way before every meeting the person.
Reply:I don't think many of the people are losers. It can be very hard to meet people today, especially if you are not in your early twenties anymore. Anyway, you are just going out on a date

and you will soon find out. They are not performing brain surgery on you.
Reply:i felt the same way... but i met my fiance off of a FREE dating website. the only people who don't know the truth are my parents b/c they'd freak. but all of my friends know. who cares... i'm very happy that i decided to try it. the first few guys i met off of there were complete losers, but i'm glad i didn't give up. try the website... plentyoffish.com good luck
Reply:Ok, classifieds, online dating all that stuff just makes other people think: wow, those 2 must have been Desperate. But...so many people do it nowadays, that I don't think it'll matter. And yes, there are normal people on those sites.
Reply:I have been thinking about joining on line dating. I don't think it's desperate at all. Go for it.
Reply:no, its not just for desperate losers, thank you though.

some people work too much to even have time to get out there and look.

i have met someone online before and it was fun, so you can have a relationship online, and neither one of us were neurotic.

online dating is kind of like person to person, there are no gaurantees. and yes there are "normal" people that online date.
Reply:They had not yet invented the internet when I was dating, but I did meet my husband from a computer-matching company, and we've been married 35 years. It's a great alternative to the bar scene. Go for it.
