Online Harddrive compatability with Processors 2, earlier question was incomplete.?

when a software is installed in a system, the data of the software is stored in harddrive. In order to make the software work, the processor reads data and software is executed and users use the software. If I have to install MS OFFICE software, I run the cd and data is stored in hd and the processor interacts with the data and is executed finally, such that, users start using Word, Excel etc. My point is, we have so many online hd that the web offers. Can't we install the data of MS OFFICE cd on to that online hd and use it by making the process of the computer access that data. If we can't use it that way, can create or innovate or invent ways to make the processors access the online data and the files get executed. Necessity is the Mother of Invention- If I have only 40gb hd on my system and I have an import software installation that has to happen. In such cases, why can't we load that installation onto online hd and make the processor access data and read files.

if my understanding is correct, that technology is already in used. the internet is basically ran that way. you have "online hds" or servers and they feed you the data when you access them. unfortunately, they are still hardwares and like your 40 gig, could be used up if all the world will be saving programs in them. plus, there would be almost zero privacy if all of us will be sharing one big online hd.

ms office though is more logically configured to be available anytime, offline.
