Online School?

The state department of education has provided funding for an experimental online school. All of the classes will take place on the internet using email, online chat, and the world wide wed. The students taking classes at this new online school will never meet each other face-to-face . Do you think that 6th,7th,and 8th grade students should or shouldn't attend school online.

Online School?
Education is as much about shared learning and shared experiances. For childeren in 6-7th grade this might be too little interaction using electronic media alone to make such an experiment a resounding success.

Such a model could possibly be useful for Higher studies but not for young childeren.

Even if such a model needs to be tried a believe a better first step would be to have the childeren still sit together in one room for the sessions .
Reply:My girlfriend is earning her Bachelor's degree online as we speak. She found her school through this website:

http://ecollege.better.ws

That website will help you pick out a school that's right for you and your schedule, and can even help you find a financial aid program to help cover the costs. Report It

Reply:6, 7, 8th graders should NOT attend online classes, there not ready, or responsable enough. Maybe doing something like this while in class would be better..thats just my opinion.
Reply:Why not? Distance learning is done frequently all over remote locations in the USA, Canada, Australia and other place in the world. If there is no school for your child within a reasonable distance, then some or all school should be done from home.

Let's educate all children. The nations of the world have committed to this throught Millenium Development Goals. http://www.un.org/millenniumgoals/ See goal number TWO. So you see, children in India, Nepal and many parts of Africa will embrace this technology to teach their children.

Good luck and Happy Computing!
Reply:Wow there is?

I would love to take 8th grade online as an experience.

I hear Hilary Duff took a coarse like this and got into Harvard.
Reply:I personally feel that any kind of home school, which this is, gives the child a disadvantage when it comes to social skills. This will then hurt them when they have to go into the work place as an adult. I think this would be a good option to have for children who HAVE to be out of school, like health reasons, but all others should be sent to school like most children.
